It's an interesting story concept that has drama and tension and also raises some questions about ethics and stuff, and reading this manga did make me a bit interested in reading Mary Shelley's novel (even though I'm not the biggest fan of the epistolary format). And then fe deviated slightly in how the story progressed during the creation of Frankenstein's bride, but the broad strokes of the story still seemed to have stayed the same. But from what I can tell based on reading summaries, Junji Ito seems to have largely stayed true to the original plot points for the first portion of the story. I haven't actually read the original Frankenstein story and most of my encounters with these characters have been through bastardized retellings, caricatures, and parodies. The artwork is actually fairly good and the dark tones throughout fit very well with this story. There is detail in the backgrounds and the characters look nice.
